2-Day Event at Doublegate June 10-11

Red Hills returns to Albany, GA and Doubegate CC in June. This is our first two-day event for 2012. It is Junior Scoreboard Ranked (18-holers). Online registration is now open (click here to sign up).

NOTE: Red Hills has had Doublegate scheduled since Sept. of last year, but we are aware there is a conflict with a GSGA Junior Sectional. We have created an option for those players wanting to take part in both events. Our Monday round will be after midday in case some older players opt to play both.

Where: Doublegate CC, 3800 Old Dawson Rd., Albany, GA
When: June 10-11 (Sunday / Monday). Tee times will begin later than normal at 2:15pm EST (Sunday) and will be posted on the Red Hills website 48-hours prior to the event. There will be a limited field so please register early.
Course: Doublegate CC. Boys 10 and under and Girls 12 and under (who usually play only 9 holes) will be playing both the front and back nines over the two-day period (total of 18). OPTION: these players may elect to play both on the same day, Sunday June 10 or Monday June 11. Space is VERY limited for the Sunday option. Older players (only) will play 18 Sunday and 18 Monday (36 total) and scores will be submitted to Junior Golf Scoreboard. There will be no double par rule in effect for this event.

Entry Deadline: Midnight, Thursday, June 7, 2012.
Practice Rounds: Call 229-436-6503 for tee times (course greens are being punched but will be in good shape for the event. You may want to schedule a practice round closer to the event.
Practice Round Fees: $5.35 for 9 or 18 holes.
Practice Round Cart Fees: $10.70 (9 holes) and $20 (18 holes)
Awards and/or Playoffs: Please note any playoff(s) would take place Monday after conclusion of play. Awards will follow. If players play Sunday and tie for first but cannot make a playoff Monday afternoon, they would forfeit their first place position. (Awards will be mailed to winners who cannot make the awards presentation.)

Experiencing a professional golf tournament -- live and in person -- is important to both inspire and create a solid vision in the minds of young players of what they can achieve with golf. There is no substitute.

For many young players the closest they get to the pros is a TV set, but that pales in comparison to the real thing... no matter how big an HD screen you have.

As we've done for 4 years in a row, this Sunday, May 13 we will caravan to The Players Championship at TPC in Ponte Vedre and take as many Red Hills players as want to attend.

Baker, Cornelius Make 3-Under 69 the New Number to Beat

Bennett Baker birdied Killearn's final hole for 69.For the second time in as many events, Red Hills players have broken a previous low scoring average of 70 (held previously by Tallahassee's Matthew Young and Wacissa's Henry Westmoreland).

This time, at Kinderlou Forest, March 25, Boys 11-12 player Kyle Cornelius, Dothan, made a 6-foot putt on the last hole to shoot 69. Tallahassee's Bennett Baker (Boys 15-18), less than a month later, birdied the 18th hole at Killearn's East course to equal the 3-under 69.

There has been lots of good scoring lately in most all Red Hills age divisions. At Kinderlou, Moutrie's Bowen Aguero shot 73 to lead the Boys 15-18 on a very windy day in March. Hunter Courtney shot 75 in the Boys 13-14.

Dothan's Kyle Cornelius.Tallahassee's Teresa Conroy (Girls 13-14) and Quitman's Carrillee Hiers (Girls 15-18) both fired 84. And Sam Barrett, Thomasville, led the Boys 9-10 with a 9-hole total of 42. Elizabeth Funderburk, Moultire, GA, led the Girls 11-12 with 44.

At the Killearn event April 14, Baker's 69 was good enough to overtake Alex Kitsos, 77, and Lynn Haven's Jeremy Senterfitt, 80. Cairo's Hunter Courtney shot a nice 82 to lead the Boys 13-14 over Monticello's Brian Bowman, 84. Kayla Wilbourn, also of Cairo, shot 90 to win the Girls 15-18 division.

Boys 11-12 are showing scoring improvements this year with a tight group at the top of the leaderboard. At Killearn. Albany's Flint Bekkers 76 was one shot better than Live Oak's Will Bozeman and Kyle Cornelius. both shot 77. Dothan's BJ Morrison shot 78.

Sam Barrett took the top spot in the Boys 9-10 with a 39 over Tallahassee's Patrick McCann, 42, and Dothan's Emmett Lee , 44.

Niceville's Lauren Miller shot a nice 39 to lead the girls 11-12 over intercity rival Caroline Craig, 46, and Elizabeth Funderburk, 47.

Catie Criag, Niceville, shot a wonderful 42 in the Girls 9-10.

Karson Stone Posts Personal Best at USK Jekyll Island Cup

Thomasville's Karson Stone (Girls 13-14) turned in a personal best this weekend at the U.S. Kids Golf - Jekyll Island Cup: she shot 76,78 to tie for First Place then lost on the second playoff hole. Good job, Karson!

Stonebridge Update

We are looking forward to a great event at Stonebridge tomorrow, Sunday March 4. Tee times are posted and begin at 9am EST. Please click here to preview yardages for your age group. WEATHER ADVISORY FOR STONEBRIDGE

Dear Red Hills Players and Parents,

Due to severe weather warning forecasts for Saturday, March 3, we are moving the date of our Stonebridge (Albany, GA) event to the next day, Sunday March 4. Tee times will begin about 9am EST.

Severe thunderstorms are forecast throughout Saturday in southern Georgia and would adversely affect travel and on-course safety.

We regret that some players may not be able to attend due to this change but the safety of everyone is paramount.

If you CANNOT make the March 4 event, please let us know via email john@redhillsjuniorgolf.com or phone/text to (850) 545-1362 and your registration will be refunded or applied to a future event (ie: Kinderlou Forest is March, 25, etc.).

For players now able to attend the event, registration will remain open until midnight, Thursday March 1.
