Nearly 100 Red Hills parents and players attended the "Short and Sweet"season-ending banquet at Glen Arven Saturday night. The event featured a presentation to the American Cancer Society of a check for $620 check .. raised during the Wear Pink at Camp Creek Campaign; a talk by Don Farr, FSU PGA Management Program; an inspirational message from former pro golfer Wayne Mayo (Easton's dad), and presentation of awards and prizes to Player of the Year winners.

Top prize: an iPad2 to Jeremy Senterfitt (Lynn Haven, FL).

Glen Arven Hosts October 29
Red Hills Tour Championship

Our final Red Hills Junior Tour event takes place Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 at Glen Arven Country Club, Thomasville, GA. All current tour players and new players are invited to take part in this event. Remember double points toward end of year awards and prizes will be earned at this event.

Practice Round Green Fees: 18 Holers: $25; 9 Holers: $25
Practice Round Carts for 18 holers: $20
Practice Round Carts for 9 holers: $10

To Schedule a Practice Round: Please call the Glen Arven Pro Shop at (229) 226-1780 and tell them you are a participant in the Red Hills Junior event Oct. 29. NOTE: NO PRACTICE ROUNDS ARE PERMITTED THE DAY OF THE EVENT. Any player on the course the day of the event before the event begins will be disqualified.

“Short & Sweet” Banquet Immediately
Follows Tour Championship Play

Our “Short & Sweet” End of Year Banquet is coming together.  The cost is $16.00 per person and includes a salad, fetuccini  alfredo, chocolate mousse and a drink.*  (Price includes tax and tip as well). Deadline for Banquet tickets was Oct. 26 ... but please call Leslie Baker at 850-545-5023 if you'd like to take part and we will try and get you in.  We will have a slide show and speakers, give out 2011 t-shirts, end of year prizes and, of course, event and Championship trophies. 

We are working with Bill Connally, Glen Arven Director of Golf, on a possible shot-gun start or starting players  on both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees to ensure players finish around the same time. More details to come!

Florida Junior Tour STEP Exemptions Announced for 2011-2012 Season

The FJT STEP (Special Tournament Exemption Program) — is offered by the Florida Junior Tour (FJT) through the Red Hills Junior Tour to provide tournament exemptions to eleven (11) players based on performance, sportsmanship and ability. For more information about the STEP Exemptions, click here.

At 62nd Annual Future Masters

Bennett Baker surged on the 3rd round with a 3-under par 67 to follow up his rounds of 70 and 74 to finish the tournament with an aggregate score of 211 (1 over par) and finish 3rd place in the 13-14 age group.

Sam Barrett shot two rounds of 49 and 44 to finish T29 in the 10-Under Division. 

Chase Burkhalter put together rounds of 75-71-76 to finish T64 in an exteremly tough 15-18 Division of 224 juniors.

Kyle Cornelius tied for 13th as an 11-year old in the 11-12 age group with rounds of 72-75-76.

Owen Cox shot two rounds of 45 and 43 to finish 25th in the 10-under age group.

Joshua Crews shot 3 rounds of 73-78-74 to finish T84 in the 15-18 Division. 

Sam McLane shot 78-77-84 to finish 72nd in the 13-14 Division. 

Thomas Ponder III won the 10-under age group with a score of 71 (+1). He was the first Dothan born player to win his age group in a generation.

Pledger Striplin made the cut on the number shooting rounds of 78 and 79, and shot 80 in the final round. He finished T69 out of 122 of the best players in the country for his age group (13-14).

If You're New to Our Tour This Year

If you played last year but have not signed up for 2011, the basics of the tour will remain the same but there will be a few changes. These changes will highlighted on the Rules and Regulations, Caddy Policy and Cart Policy pages prior to the first event, Jan. 22, 2011 at Glen Arven. The mid-Season Registration fee of $50 is now in effect. Join us for a full summer season of fun and competition.
